Quraish as well as all Arabs had acknowledged the authority, nobility, and power of the grandfathers of the Prophet (the Prayers and Peace of Allah be upon Him) through the ages. They had the preference among all Arabs in honor and power. Many had narrated their stories of dignity. Here we start with the story of the Prophet's (the Prayers and Peace of Allah be upon Him) grandfather Qusai bin Kilab.
Qusai bin Kilab
He is Qusai / son of Kilab / son of Murra / son of Kae'b / son of Lo'ai / son of Ghaleb; the forth grandfather of the Prophet's (the Prayers and Peace of Allah be upon Him). He was the first to unite Quraish in Mecca after they were being separated in Bani Kinana.
He was the first, from Bani Ka'eb, to be enthroned as the King of Arabs.
His autobiography was mentioned in the book of “Muhadarat El-Abrar” by Abu Al-Waleed narrating his grandfather Sa'ed bin Salem , narrating Ibn Juraih and Ibn Ishaq as follows:
The tribe of Khuza'a had ruled Mecca and was responsible for Al-Bait Al-Haram for 300 years. During their reign, the folk of Tuba' sent their army from Yemen to knock down and destroy Al-Bait Al-Haram. Khuza'a defended Al-Bait and fought them making sure they were defeated. The story had been repeated again with another Tuba', who had been also defeated. Khuza'a maintained its position in ruling Mecca , whereas Quraish were separated in Bani Kinana.
Kilab / son of Murra / son of Kae'b / son of Lo'ai / son of Ghaleb died leaving his two son Qusai and Zuhra with their mother Fatima / daughter of Amr / son of Sa'ed / son of Subal. Sa'ed bin Subal was the bravest man of the time.
After the death of his father, Fatima, the mother of Qusai, had married Rabe'a bin Huzam, while Qusai was still an enfant. He traveled with his mother and her husband to the homeland of his step-father, i.e., Uzra on the outskirts of Al- Sham. His brother, who was an adult, had remained in Mecca . After that, his mother gave birth to his half-brother Razah bin Rabe'a.
